A collab that Marshmello had hinted at dating back to July 22, 2017, “Silence” tells the story of someone struggling with their emotional well-being and confidence in developing relationships. As the song progresses to the chorus, Khalid expresses the strength that the storyteller has found to overcome their fears of talking and deciding to break the “silence” they’ve felt trapped in up until now.
